Tomatoes are one of the most sought after and bought foodstuff in Nigeria. We as Nigerians make most of our meals using tomatoes and so the increase in price is affecting Nigerians.
In recent weeks, the cost of tomatoes has surged in Lagos and all over Nigeria, intensifying financial strain on many Nigerian households amidst a challenging economic climate.
Nigerians are complaining on how they’re spending almost N7000 on tomatoes for a single pot of stew which was the same quality that cost about N2000 months ago. A medium sized basket of tomatoes now go for N22,000 naira while it was N4,000 back in March.
This proves are simply ridiculous to say the very least, and the escalating prices have forced many Nigerians to resort to purchasing even rotten tomatoes for their meals due to the lower cost.
