Hold onto your Mickey ears, people! Disney just snagged a finance whiz from the land of cola.
Hugh Johnston, the money maestro behind PepsiCo, is now the CFO of the magic kingdom, Disney.
After 34 years of making PepsiCo’s financial gears turn, Hugh is switching soda for fairy dust and stepping into the Disney realm. Starting December 4, he’ll be dishing out financial magic directly to the big boss at Disney, CEO Bob Iger.
In his own words, Hugh gushed about Disney being the Beyoncé of companies—legendary, beloved, and with a financial game strong enough to power a spaceship to infinity and beyond.
Now, why the CFO shuffle at Disney? Well, Christine McCarthy, the previous financial guru, took a bow earlier this year amid a massive company shake-up. Disney trimmed down its workforce by 7,000 jobs, gave itself a makeover, and now it’s contemplating selling ABC and finding BFFs for ESPN.
Oh, and let’s not forget the quest for the next Disney CEO. It’s like searching for Cinderella’s glass slipper, but with suits and board meetings. They’re aiming to crown the chosen one by 2025.
