Apple is reportedly back in talks with OpenAI, a company that creates powerful AI tools according to Bloomberg. This could mean iPhones getting some exciting new features powered by this special kind of AI, called generative AI.
Generative AI can basically understand and respond to written instructions in a way that seems almost human. Imagine asking your phone to write you a poem, or summarize a news article – that’s the kind of thing generative AI might be able to do for you.
Apple’s discussions with OpenAI is about how this technology could be used in the next iPhone operating system, iOS 18. It’s worthy to note that Apple is also considering similar tech from Google, and they haven’t decided for sure who to work with yet.
This would be a big step for Apple, as other companies like Microsoft and Google have already started using generative AI in their products. Apple CEO Tim Cook has said the company is investing heavily in this area, and we might hear more details about their plans soon.
